Dialysis Innovation in Sweden

Nipro is reigniting a proud Swedish legacy with the opening of a new MIC development center for dialysis technologies in Malmö, Sweden, under its Medical Instrument Center (MIC) division.

MIC Europe was established in Belgium in 2019 as Nipro’s first development center for dialysis hardware outside of Japan.  Six years later, Nipro is celebrating the expansion of its R&D activities in Sweden, the home of pioneering manufacturer Gambro and its founder Nils Alwall, whose artificial kidney machines made life-saving dialysis treatments practical and commercially viable for the first time. Nipro honors and builds upon this rich legacy of Gambro in its decision to locate its new center in Sweden.

Stepping in to nurture the talent and knowledge of the region and revitalize this historic industry hub, Nipro is onboarding a local team of experienced engineers to accelerate the development of state-of-the-art dialysis technologies. In this way, Nipro puts into practice its core philosophy of Sanpo Yoshi - the ‘triple win’ - a belief that long-term decisions should harmonize the best interests of the company, its customers, and the community.
