Welcome Surdial X!
Senegal’s Secretary of Health, Mr Abdoulaye Diouff Sarr, has warmly and proudly welcomed the shipment of as many as 40 of Nipro’s Surdial X machines.
“This shipment contains 40 hemodialysis machines and 2 water treatment installations. Each machine has the capacity to treat 4 patients. We can now help 160 patients with this new load of machines. In fact, each year, about 1,000 people in Senegal require hemodialysis treatment.”
During the reception ceremony, Secretary of Health continued :
Nipro has shown its commitment to Africa and its patients over the last couple of years, by installing various sales offices throughout the continent – we have a vested interest in Senegal as well. Nipro therefore also gladly echoes the message of “Serving Senegal”. We are proud that Nipro was selected to be the main supplier for this charity project, entirely sponsored by Carrefour Médical.
What will be the impact?
Dr Niang, the lead nephrologist at the Saliou Fall dialysis center adds,“With these additional machines, we will now be able to treat 300 to 400 patients out of a total renal population of about 1,200. Increasing this quota will mean a huge relief to the Senegalese overall population.”
As well as addressing the increase in capacity, Dr Niang also acknowledges the additional possibilities the machines will offer. “We have never done anything like this in our country. Surdial X machines allow us to perform a treatment that is called ‘hemofiltration’, which outperforms the traditional ‘hemodialysis’.”
