This course is about practicing cannulation in a high-tech environment with realistic arm simulators,
supported by a comprehensive theoretical background.
Program content
- What is expected from a vascular access (theory)
- The different types of vascular access and needle insertion techniques (theory)
- How to take care of a vascular access (theory)
- Clinical examination of an AV fistula (theory)
- Cannulation techniques on different types of arm simulators (practice)
- Use of vascular access materials (practice)
- Pre- and post-learning provided by online tools
- Optional (theory & practice): use of D.med NephroFlow device (blood flow and recirculation measurement)
Specifications
This module is intended for:
- Novice dialysis nurses with less than three years of work experience
- All nurses without dialysis experience
- Experienced nurses requiring dialysis recertification
The full course will last approximately 120 minutes.
This course can be hosted in 3 different languages: English, French or Dutch.
